Week Seven: Microblogging

1. I had fun looking for people to follow. I'm following Stephen Fry, John Cleese, Dr. Oz, Sanjay Gupta, the New York Public Library and TripAdvisor.

2. I did find it easy. I had to stop myself from following more people.

3. There hasn't been time for much response. I imagine the New York Public Library tweets will be valuable in my job. The others are just for fun.

4. Microblogging would be valuable in following people who are at a convention when I couldn't go. Last year we could follow the meeting of the Library Board when they were discussing a policy change.

We have a discussion every Wednesday about that week's lesson. We talked about criminals who follow twitter and foursquare to find out where people are. Yesterday when I was working a man came up and said he was using foursquare and telling people he was at the library.

I watched the speech "How Social Media Can Make History". Most of it dealt with news getting out about an earthquake in China even though the Chinese government didn't approve.
